Tiresome and tedious

Whew.. recording an audiobook is tiresome and tedious.  Don’t get me wrong.  It’s FUN, but starting and stopping and rerecording this and recording that is tiresome, and the repetition is what’s tedious.  In other words, it’s fulfilling but wears on you.  The methodical march through verbalizing each word and how they’re delivered causes a great deal of fatigue.  I have a much greater respect for audiobook narrators, voice actors, overdub artists, etc.

Tiresome and tedious
Recording/mixing the SOULS OF ASTRAEUS audiobook

The physical demands really are the only negative part of the process. I’ve been able to enjoy my work from a whole difference perspective.  Something that I also wasn’t expecting was that I found myself frequently taking notes on things I wanted to keep in mind for the follow-up to SOULS OF ASTRAEUS. I thought I had captured all the notes I needed previously, but I was amazed at the new ideas and approaches that popped into my head as I narrated.  It really has been a blast and I can’t wait to share the finished product with everyone!
